monologue is built on a simple principle: your voice stays on your device. This policy explains what data we collect, what we don't, and how we handle your information.

The app

monologue processes all audio locally on your Mac using on-device speech recognition models. Specifically:

• Audio is captured, transcribed, and immediately discarded in real-time. No audio is saved to disk, logged, or buffered beyond the active recording session.
• Transcription happens entirely on your Mac's GPU. No audio or text is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.
• The app does not require an internet connection to function.
• We do not collect, store, or have access to anything you dictate.

The website

When you visit this website:

• No cookies are used for tracking or analytics. We use localStorage solely to remember your light/dark theme preference.
• No analytics services are loaded. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts.
• Standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) may be recorded by our hosting provider for security and uptime purposes. These are not used for marketing or shared with third parties.

Purchases

When you purchase a license, payment is processed by our payment provider. We receive your email address and transaction details to fulfill your order and provide support. We do not store your credit card number or full payment details.

Data we store

The only personal information we store is:

• Your email address (if you make a purchase or contact support)
• Your license key and purchase record

That's it. We do not build profiles, sell data, or share information with advertisers.

Third parties

monologue uses OpenAI's Whisper speech recognition models, which run entirely on your device. No data is sent to OpenAI or any other third party. The models are downloaded once and run locally.

Children

monologue is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and post the revised version here. For significant changes, we may also notify you by email if we have your address on file.
